PROBLEMSOLUTION
Dishwasher will not fill• Press the START/Cancel pad to start the dishwasher.
• Be sure door is latched securely.
• Be sure the water is turned on.
• Check that the pad is property selected for a cycle.
• Check your home's circuit breaker or fuse box.
• Check inlet hose for a kink.
• Check water valve inlet for sediment and clean if necessary.
Dishwasher will not drain/ Water in tub bottom• If hooked up to a food waste disposer, be sure the knock-out is removed from the disposer inlet
• Check for food obstruction in the drain or disposer.
• Check drain hose for a kink
• Check your home's circuit breaker or fuse box.
• Check that the cycle is completed.
Dishwasher adds water at end of cycle• This is normal. The sensor (select models) in the pump must stay submerged so a short fill of water is added after the cycle's last drain.
Detergent cup is not empty• Check that the cycle is completed.
• Be sure dispenser is not blocked.
• Use fresh detergent stored in a cool, dry place.
Dishwasher seems noisy• A water valve hiss during fill is normal.
• Water circulation sounds are normal.
• A thumping sound may be a wash arm bumping an item that is extending beyond the racks. Readjust load to avoid obstructing wash arm.
• Chopping or grinding sounds may be heard as the internal food disposer chops hard items like fruit seeds, nuts. etc.
• Humming during the drain is normal.
• A snap noise is the detergent cup lid hitting the door liner when the dishwasher door is opened at the end of the cycle. This is normal.
• Proper installation affects the noise level.
Cycle takes too long (Heating light stays on)• High Temp or Sanitize has been selected and the cycle is extended to heat water.
• Check to see that the incoming water temperature is 120° F (49° C).
Dishwasher has an odor• Run dishes being held in the dishwasher through a Rinse Only cycle.
• Many dishwashers have a “new' smell when first installed. This will dissipate with use.
• Dishwasher may not be draining properly.
• For a strong odor, place baking soda in both sides of the detergent cup. Select Light Wash cycle and allow the water to circulate for about 10 minutes. Interrupt the cycle by unlatching the door and let it stand overnight. Restart the dishwasher by latching the door and allow it to complete the cycle. Another alternative is to use a dishwasher cleaning product such as Jet-Dry Dishwasher Cleaner*.
Dishwasher leaks• Check that the dishwasher is level.
• Suds can cause the dishwasher to overflow. Measure the detergent carefully and use only detergents designed for use in a dishwasher. Less detergent is needed in soft water. Try another brand of detergent if sudsing continues.
• Follow directions closely on how to add a forgotten item
• To avoid rinse aid leaking from the dispenser, be sure the lid is securely attached.
Display time suddenly drops or increases by several minutes (select models)• This is normal when the Auto Clean [select models) or Normal Wash cycle is selected and the dishwasher decides to skip or add a drain and refill.
Indicator lights flashing• The countdown display (select models) flashes after a cycle is selected until the START/Cancel pad is pressed.
• The countdown display (select models) and the delay indicator flash after a delay is selected until the START/Cancel pad is pressed.
• All active display indicators flash if the door is opened during a running cycle or delay.
• The currently selected cycle flashes if an attempt is made to change the cycle after cycle “lock-in'.
• The lock indicator flashes and the countdown display (selected models) flashes an “L' if a pad is pressed while the control lock is enabled.
Glasses are cloudy/spotted• Select Extra Rinse (select models).
• Check water temperature. Incoming water should be 120° F (49° C).
• Always use a rinse aid.
• Confirm that the cloudiness is removable by soaking the item in white vinegar for approximately 5 minutes. If removed, the problem is due to hard water. Adjust detergent amount being used to match water hardness. Be sure detergent is fresh, stored properly and is a high quality brand.
• If cloudiness is not removable, it is etching. This is an erosion of the surface of the glassware and can be caused by water that is too hot from using too much detergent or by prewashing. Detergent needs food soil to act upon. If etching has occurred, the glassware is permanently damaged. To prevent further etching, adjust the detergent amount to match the water hardness, stop prewashing, and use water heating options only when incoming water temperature is below 120° F (49° C).
Food soil remains on dishes• Check water temperature
• Run hot water at the sink before starting the dishwasher.
• Select High Temp option.
• Check water hardness and adjust detergent amount accordingly
• Use fresh detergent stored in a cool dry place.
• Select proper cycle for the soil level
• Make sure the upper rack wash arm connector is correctly aligned in one of the water inlet holes
• Load items so they do not block the wash arms
• Load the utensil basket with knife handles up and spoon and fork handles down through the slots in the covers.
• Do not place glasses over tines.
• Prior to loading, scrape off burnt on foods and wipe the starchy film from utensils used with pasta, rice and oatmeal. These soils require more energy than the rest of the load to dean.
Items washed in the dishwasher or the dishwasher tub itself are stained/ discolored• Aluminum utensils or pans can leave marks when they rub against other items. Leave a slight space between items.
• Iron deposits in the water can leave a yellow, brown or orange film on dishes or the dishwasher tub. A rust filter may be needed, check with a water treatment company.
• Separate silver or silver-plated silverware from stainless steel. These metals can be damaged by contact with each other during washing.
• Color from tomato sauces may adhere to the interior parts of the dishwasher. If light staining has occurred, leave the door open to oxidize the stain away. Change dishwasher detergent and be sure to use a dishwasher detergent that contains chlorine to better fight staining.
• Certain dishwasher detergents may stain silver. Try another brand of detergent.
Items not properly dried/ moisture is present on the dishwasher interior after the dry cycle• Be sure Heated Dry is selected.
• Water droplets may form on the inner door as part of the drying process.
• Use a rinse aid separate from the detergent like Jet Dry* or Cascade Rinse Aid* regularly, to improve drying. Turn the rinse aid selector toward the MAX setting.
• Check water temperature
• Select Sanitize.
• Increase detergent amount to match water hardness
• Load properly
• Plastic and items with non-stick surfaces are difficult to dry because they have a porous surface which tends to collect water droplets. Towel drying may be necessary.
• Glasses and cups with concave bottoms hold water and require towel drying. Locate these items on the more slanted side of the rack for improved results.
Dishware is chipped• Load dishes according to instructions so they do not strike each other
• Washing fine antique china/crystal in the dishwasher is not recommended.
• Do not load glasses over the tines.
• Do not overload.
Sanitized light does not illuminate at the end of the cycle (select models)• Sanitize was not selected.
• Sanitization can only be achieved with the Auto Clean. Heavy Wash. Normal Wash or Light Wash cycles.
• Sanitization may not be achieved if there is an interruption of the cycle, power failure or if incoming water temperature is below 120° F (49° C).
Dishwasher door will not close• Be sure adjustable racks (select models) are properly adjusted to upper or lower position.

• Water circulation sounds are normal.
• A thumping sound may be a wash arm bumping an item that is extending beyond the racks. Readjust load to avoid obstructing wash arm.
• Chopping or grinding sounds may be heard as the internal food disposer chops hard items like fruit seeds, nuts, etc.
• Humming during the drain is normal.
• A snap noise is the detergent cup lid hitting the door liner when the dishwasher door is opened at the end of the cycle. This is normal.
• Proper installation affects the noise level.
Cycle takes too long• Sanitize has been selected and the cycle is extended to heat water.
• Check to see that the incoming water temperature is 120° F (49° C)
Dishwasher has an odor• Run dishes being held in the dishwasher through a Rinse cycle.
• Many dishwashers have a “new' smell when first installed. This will dissipate with use.
• Dishwasher may not be draining properly.
• For a strong odor, place baking soda in both sides of the detergent cup. Select China cycle and allow the water to circulate for about 10 minutes. Interrupt the cycle by unlatching the door and let it stand overnight. Restart the dishwasher by latching the door and allow it to complete the cycle. Another alternative is to use a dishwasher cleaning product such as Jet-Dry Dishwasher Cleaner
Dishwasher leaks• Check that the dishwasher is level.
• Suds can cause the dishwasher to overflow. Measure the detergent carefully and use only detergents designed for use in a dishwasher. Less detergent is needed in soft water. Try another brand of detergent if sudsing continues
• Follow directions closely on how to add a forgotten item
• To avoid rinse aid leaking from the dispenser, be sure the lid is securely attached.
Indicator lights flashing• All active display indicators flash if the door is opened during a running cycle or delay.
• The currently selected cycle flashes if an attempt is made to change the cycle after cycle “lock-in'.
• The locked indicator flashes if a pad is pressed while the child lock is enabled
Glasses are cloudy/spotted• Select Hi Temp option.
• Check water temperature. Incoming water should be 120° F (49° C).
•Always use a rinse aid.
This is an erosion of the surface of the glassware and can be caused by water that is too hot, from using too much detergent or by prewashing. Detergent needs food soil to act upon. If etching has occurred, the glassware is permanently damaged. To prevent further etching, adjust the detergent amount to match the water hardness, stop prewashing, and use water heating options only when incoming water temperature is below 120° F (49° C).
Dishware is chipped• Load dishes according to instructions so they do not strike each other
• Washing fine antique china/crystal in the dishwasher is not recommended
• Do not load glasses over the tines.
• Do not overload
Food soil remains on dishes• Check water temperature. Incoming water should be 120° F (49° C).
• Run hot water at the sink before starting the dishwasher.
• Check water hardness and adjust detergent amount accordingly
• Use fresh detergent stored in a cool dry place.
• Select proper cycle for the soil level.
• Select proper option, Hi Temp .
• Make sure the upper rack wash arm connector is correctly aligned in one of the water inlet holes.
• Load items so they do not block the wash arms.
• Load the utensil basket with knife handles up and spoon and fork handles down.
• Do not place glasses over tines.
• Before loading, scrape off burnt-on foods and wipe the starchy film from utensils used with pasta, rice and oatmeal. These soils require more energy than the rest of the load to clean.
Items washed in the dishwasher or the dishwasher tub itself is stained/discolored• Aluminum utensils or pans can leave marks when they rub against other items. Leave a slight space between items.
• Iron deposits in the water can leave a yellow, brown or orange film on dishes or the dishwasher tub. A rust filter may be needed. Check with a water treatment company.
• Separate silver or silver-plated silverware from stainless steel. These metals can be damaged by contact with each other during washing.
• Color from tomato sauces may adhere to the interior parts of the dishwasher . If light staining has occurred, leave the door open to oxidize the stain away. Use a dishwasher detergent that contains chlorine to better fight staining.
• Certain dishwasher detergents may stain silver. Try another brand of detergent.
Sanitized light does not illuminate at the end of the cycle• Sanitize was not selected.
• Sanitization can only be achieved with the Auto, Heavy, Normal or China cycles.
• Sanitization may not be achieved if there is an interruption of the cycle, power failure or if incoming water temperature is below 120° F (49° C).
Dishwasher door will not close• Be sure adjustable racks are properly adjusted to upper or lower position

Samsung Dishwasher Low Rinse Light Stays On Skin

PROBLEMSOLUTION
DISHWASHER DOES NOT RUNNOTE: It is normal for the dishwasher to repeatedly pause several times during a cycle. If the Start/Resume or Smart Display status bar light is blinking, push START/RESUME and close the door within 3 seconds.
Be sure the door is closed and latched.
Be sure you have selected a cycle.
Be sure there is power to the dishwasher. A circuit breaker or fuse may have tripped.
If lights other than Start/Resume blink and the unit will not run, you will need to call for service.
DETERGENT REMAINS IN THE DISPENSER OR TABLET IS ON BOTTOM OF TUBCheck for dishware such as cookie sheets, cutting boards, or large containers, etc. that may be blocking the detergent dispenser from opening properly.
Be sure your detergent is fresh and lump free.
Be sure the cycle has completed. (Smart Display will show the word “COMPLETED.”) If it has not completed, you will need to resume the cycle by pressing START/RESUME and closing the door within 3 seconds.
CYCLE RUNS TOO LONGTo use less water and reduce energy consumption you will encounter cycles that typically run for up to 3 hours.
A water heater setting of 120°F (49°C) is best, the dishwasher will delay longer while heating cooler water.
Some options will add time to the cycle. The Heated Dry option adds 0.5 hour.
Try the 1 Hour Wash cycle.
Run the hot water at a faucet close to the dishwasher before starting the cycle.
DISHWASHER NOT DRYINGPlastic and items with nonstick surfaces are difficult to dry because they have a porous surface which tends to collect water droplets. Towel drying may be necessary. Use of rinse aid along with the Heated Dry option is needed for proper drying.
Proper loading of items can affect drying.
Glasses and cups with concave bottoms hold water. This water may spill onto other items when unloading.
Unload the bottom rack first.
Load these items on the more slanted side of the rack for improved results.
WILL NOT FILLBe sure the water is turned on to the dishwasher.
Check that the float is free from obstructions.
Check for suds in the dishwasher. If foam or suds are detected, the dishwasher may not operate properly or may not fill with water.
WATER REMAINS IN THE TUB/WILL NOT DRAINBe sure the cycle has completed. (Smart Display will show the word “COMPLETED.”) If it has not, you will need to resume the cycle by pressing START/RESUME and closing the door within 3 seconds.
If dishwasher is connected to a food waste disposer, be sure the knockout plug has been removed from the disposer inlet.
Check for kinks in the drain hose.
Check for food obstructions in the drain or disposer.
Check your house fuse or circuit breaker.
HARD WATER (WHITE RESIDUE ON DISHWASHER INTERIOR OR GLASSWARE)Extremely hard water mineral deposits can cause damage to your dishwasher and make it difficult to achieve good cleaning. You may bring water samples to Sears to check your water hardness level. A water softener is strongly recommended if your hardness is 15 grains or more. If a water softener is not installed, the following steps may help:
Use a commercial cleaner designed for dishwashers once per month.
Clean the ULTRA WASH filters at least once per month.
Always use a rinse aid.
Always use a high-quality, fresh detergent.
Use a detergent booster/water softener additive designed for dishwashers.
ODORSIf the dishwasher is not used daily, you can run a Quick Rinse cycle with the partial load daily until a full load is ready to run, or use the Top Rack Only option (on some models) for partial loads.
Run a vinegar rinse through the dishwasher by putting 2 cups (500 mL) of white vinegar in an upright glass measuring cup in the lower rack. Run a normal cycle with the Heated Dry option turned off. Do not use detergent.
The dishwasher may not be draining properly.
NOISYSurging sounds can occur periodically throughout the cycle while the dishwasher is draining.
Normal water valve hissing may be heard periodically.
A normal snap sound may be heard when the detergent dispenser opens during the cycle and when the door is opened at the end of the cycle.
Improper installation will affect noise levels.
Be sure the filters are properly installed.
A thumping sound may be heard if items extend beyond the racks and interfere with the
wash arms. Readjust the dishware and resume the cycle.
FOOD SOILS REMAIN ON DISHESBe sure the dishwasher is loaded correctly. Improper loading can greatly decrease the washing performance
Check filter to ensure it is properly installed. Clean it if needed.
Select the proper cycle and option for the type of soils. The Pots Pans cycle with the TURBOZONE option can be used for tougher loads.
Be sure the incoming water temperature is at least 120F (49C).
Use the proper amount of fresh detergent. More detergent is needed for heavier-soiled loads and hard water conditions.
Scrape food from dishes prior to loading (do not prerinse).
DID NOT SANITIZEIf the words “NOT SANITIZED” are shown on the Smart Display, the load is NOT sanitized. The cycle was interrupted in the final rinse, or your water heater is set too low. Set your water heater to 120°F (49°C).
DAMAGE TO DISHWAREImproper loading can cause dishes to become chipped or damaged.
BLINKING LIGHTSIf the Start/Resume light and Smart Display status bar are blinking, push START/ RESUME and close the door within 3 seconds.
If the word “COMPLETED” on the Smart Display or any other lights are blinking and the dishwasher will not run, check the following:
Is the overfill protection float able to move up and down freely? Press down to release.
Be sure the water supply is turned on to the dishwasher. (This is very important following the new installation of your dishwasher.)
Check for suds in the dishwasher. If foam or suds are detected by the dishwasher sensing system, the dishwasher may not operate properly or may to fill with water.
Suds can come from:
Using the incorrect type of detergent, such as dish detergent for hand washing dishes, laundry detergent, or hand soap.
Not replacing the rinse aid dispenser cap after filling (or refilling) the rinse aid.
Using an excessive amount of dishwasher detergent.
Call for service.
CLOUDY OR SPOTTED DISHWARE (AND HARD WATER SOLUTION)Liquid rinse aid is necessary for drying and to reduce spotting.
Use the correct amount of detergent.
Confirm that the cloudiness is removable by soaking the item in white vinegar for 5 minutes. If the cloudiness disappears, it is due to hard water. Adjust the amount of detergent and rinse aid. If it does not come clear, it is due to etching.
Be sure the incoming water temperature is set at 120F (49C).
Try using the Hi Temp and Sani Rinse options.
ETCHING (PERMANENT CLOUDINESS)This is an erosion of the surface of the glassware and can be caused by a combination of: water that is too hot, from using too much detergent with soft water or by pre- washing. Detergent needs food soil to act upon. If etching has occurred, the glassware is permanently damaged. To avoid further etching, adjust the detergent amount to match the water hardness, stop pre-washing, and use water heating options only when incoming water temperature is below 120F (49C).
LEAKING WATERBe sure the dishwasher has been installed properly and is level.
Suds can cause the dishwasher to overflow. Measure the detergent accurately and use only detergents designed for use in a dishwasher. Less detergent is needed in soft water. Try another brand of detergent if sudsing continues.
To avoid rinse aid leaking from the dispenser, be sure the lid is securely attached and avoid overfilling.
TUB IS DISCOLOREDHigh iron content in the water can discolor the tub.
Tomato-based foods can discolor the tub or dishware. A citrus-based cleaner can be used to clean.
