- Pink Floyd will release an updated version of their 1989 concert film Delicate Sound of Thunder along with its companion live album on November 20th. Recorded over five nights at the Nassau.
The personnel of the English rock group Pink Floyd has changed several times. The group was founded in 1965 by Syd Barrett on guitar and lead vocals, Nick Mason on drums, Roger Waters on bass and vocals, and Richard Wright on keyboards and vocals. Guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour joined in December 1967; Barrett was ousted from the band in April 1968 due to deteriorating mental health. From the 1970s onwards, they were augmented by additional personnel in the studio and on stage. Following creative tensions, Wright left Pink Floyd in 1979, followed by Waters in 1985. Wright rejoined as a session musician and, later, band member. Mason is the only member to appear on all studio releases.[1]
Pink Floyd grounded that limitless sound with exacting explorations of mundane matters of ego, mind, memory, and heart, touching upon madness, alienation, narcissism, and society on their concept albums of the '70s. Si eres fan de Pink Floyd no te puedes perder el mítico concierto de Roger Waters con 'The Wall' en Berlín tras la caída del muro, en 1990.
Aunque la obra original es de 1979 y no fue una alusión explícita al Muro de Berlín, levantado tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial y que simbolizaba la separación ideológica y física de Occidente y el eje comunista de la URSS y otras potencias como China, 'The Wall' sí representa a todos los muros que el ser humano levanta para separarse de otros.
Así, cuando en 1989 caía el Muro de Berlín entre las dos Alemanias, la federal y la del este, Waters fue llamado a celebrar un gran concierto en la capital germana para conmemorar la caída de dicho muro, 8 meses después. Había unos 400.000 asistentes esa noche del 21 de julio de 1990.
Ese macroconcierto público que se celebró en plena calle se puede ver en el vídeo que os ofrecemos sobre estas líneas, con una duración de 1 hora y 50 minutos, y en el que estuvieron presentes varios músicos reputados y de moda del momento.
